The Final Exam is a hyper-realistic survival game that puts players in the shoes of a defenseless student during a school shooting — turning gameplay into a powerful call for change. Created with Change The Ref and Webcore Games, it flips the narrative that video games cause violence, using the medium to educate players on real gun control legislation.

To survive, players had to find five real gun control bills hidden in the game, learning about policies that could save lives and tagging politicians to demand action. The campaign reached far beyond the screen — from livestreams and news outlets to lawmakers in Washington, D.C., where it helped inspire the introduction of bill S.595.

The project became a movement, earning top honors at The One Show as the fifth most-awarded idea of the festival, helping Change The Ref become Non-Profit Client of the Year, and placing Energy among the top 10 agencies worldwide.
